The session starts off with a fundamental understanding as to why so many traders struggle in their pursuit of consistency. It comes down to lack of having a set of objectives and purposeful questions. The session dives deep into the most crucial concepts that underlie market behaviours namely; Information vs Opportunity, Flow Driven vs Technical Markets, Volatility & Absorption vs Consolidation, Bad Highs/Lows, Market Positioning, Support and Resistance, and Auction Imbalances. Each one of the fundamental principles is dealt with, and the use of annotations, charts and practical examples from the futures markets. Within these principles we begin to introduce the concept of effective risk management and how stops belong at places that invalidate the underlying logic behind initial entry. We also begin to introduce the importance behind a rule-based process and why it is a key to developing a consistent strategy. Emphasis is placed on simplicity in execution and strategy development. A great deal of time is spent focused on absorption and consolidation. Focus then turns to the concept of preemptive execution, entering trades on Access Points, Pyramiding, and aggressive and passive order execution. The art of leverage trading is then introduced and the true purpose of leverage is explained. We then talk about how to master individual strategies as a lead up to session 3.
