Clint Eastwood is a Hollywood legend that hasn’t faced much personal criticism over the course of his long career. However, there have been a few incidents where people have questioned the star. One of the most questionable moments from Clint’s past remains his 13-year relationship with actress Sondra Locke. The two become romantically involved on the set of Clint’s 1976 starring vehicle The Outlaw Josey Wales and went on to develop a personal and professional relationship that ended in numerous lawsuits.

Sondra was born in Tennessee and managed to secure her first starring role after winning a talent competition that was sponsored by Warner Brothers. That starring role was in 1968’s The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and her performance in that film was a huge success on all fronts. In addition to heaps of acclaim from both critics and the audience, Sondra was also nominated for an Academy Award for the role. Afterward, Sondra could be seen in numerous other films, including the 1971 horror Willard. However, it was a 1972 encounter with Clint Eastwood that was inevitably going to open up the next stage of Sondra’s career.

Sondra auditioned for Clint’s film Breezy, but Clint believed she was too old for the role. However, he was impressed with her. He remembered Sondra, and called her up when it came time to cast The Outlaw Josey Wales. The pair proved to be an effective partnership on the screen, but the sparks continued flying even when the cameras were off. Despite both of them being already married, they fell in love with each other and were eventually living together.
