Dr. John Davis, an Associate Professor of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, reviews his article appearing in the November 2019 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings which noted that early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis leads to improved outcomes, however he noted difficulty in diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis in patients who were seronegative, which led to longer times between first joint swelling and treatment with medications and hence, longer times to symptom remission.
