We left the lake below Pyramid late after drying everything out from the previous nights rain. We headed up towards Washakie Creek , then up to Texas Pass, and over Jackass Pass, finding a late night camp just above Big Sandy Lake. The next day we hiked the 6 miles out to the truck. I give a long rambling talk at the end about the good, the bad and the ugly of the trip.
This was a life changing trip that took us through so many bucket list portions of the Wind Rivers . We ended up going 84.28 miles, with 15,768 feet of vertical gain. I consider this trip a black diamond backpacking trip, and not for beginners.
