Today I'm going to talk about how to choose and develop focal points in your home.

The focal point of a painting is an area of emphasis that demands the most attention and to which the viewer's eye is drawn, pulling it into the painting.

A focal point in interior design is an element that catches your attention. It's usually the most important part of a room, where furniture is focused on that focal point, it can determine how you walk into the room around that furniture and it should really hold your attention once you're in the room. This idea, of drawing you into a room is really important because it tends to be the first thing you see when you walk into a space and it becomes your first impression of the space. So you'll want it to be warm and inviting.

So... How do you do that? The number one rule is to walk through your home and pinpoint the spots where you need to add warmth and interest to pull you in farther.
