EVENT DESCRIPTION:
On January 26, 2023, The Richard Fee Foundation (RFF) and Periscope Foundation co-hosted a screening of "Medicating Normal" at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach. The event was free & open to the public, offering free CME credits through Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) for medical professionals & psychologists. More than 600 people attended. The footage in this video contains introductory remarks by the event co-hosts and the post-screening panel discussion and audience Q&A in their entirety.

The Sandler Center lobby featured booths from co-sponsoring organizations, including Benzodiazepine Information Coalition (BIC), Warfighter Advance, International Society for Ethical Psychology and Psychiatry (ISEPP), Periscope Foundation’s Medicating Normal, and The Richard Scott Fee Foundation. There was also an author's table featuring books written by the evening's panelists (see: links to purchase books below).

Sami Timimi, M.D.
Sami is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working in the National Health Service in the UK. He writes from a critical psychiatry perspective and has published many academic articles, book chapters, and books. His latest book is "Insane Medicine: How the Mental Health Industry Creates Damaging Treatment Traps and How You Can Escape Them."

Robert Whitaker
Whitaker is an American journalist and author who has won numerous awards as a journalist covering medicine and science. He is the author of "Mad in America" and "Anatomy of an Epidemic" and the publisher of madinamerica.com.

Gretchen LeFever Watson, Ph.D.
