In a sharp reversal, Israel has asked the White House to reschedule a high-level meeting on military plans for Rafah. Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called off a planned visit to Washington by a senior Israeli delegation. This was after the United States abstained, and did not veto, a UN Security Council resolution calling for an "immediate" ceasefire in Gaza. Later, Israeli PM Netanyahu said the decision to cancel the planned delegation visit was a message to Hamas.
