We’ve all wanted to make six figures a year. Maybe it’s an exclusively American goal, but it doesn’t sound like a lot of money, it certainly doesn’t look like a lot of money but if you made $100k a year, here’s what that would look like after taxes

If you lived in a state with no state taxes, you’d pay $0 and after paying roughly $15,247 for Federal taxes, and $7,650 for FICA, you’d be left with approximately $77,104. Why’s that important?

The average savings rate if you live here in America is 7.6% which means, most people save only $5,860 out of $77,104. But what this actually means is that at that specific savings rate, you’d need to work for around 60 years to be able to afford retirement.

If you can save 35% or roughly a third, you’ll be done with needing a job in just 25 years instead of 60. But if you can do 50%, that number drops to just 17 years of work. But the reason six figures is so important to building wealth, is because it’s much easier to reach the ultimate savings rate, which is - 65%. If you can do that, you can be retired in just 10.5 years. So here are the 11 best ways to on how to make six figures a year.

#11 Sales: virtually any sales job that involves commission. If you can knock on 50 - 100 doors a day, you can end up making several hundred thousand dollars a year like some people in their 20s have achieved.

#10 Videographer: I never made close to 100k with this job, but that's because I was doing it wrong. I worked for someone else, to build someone else’s business. But if you can work for yourself, and slowly build a list of clients, you can easily charge anywhere between $1 - $5k for a shoot.

#9 Photographer. Related to videographer but the two are not quite the same. My friend Chelsea from Chelsea Nicole Photography. Photographers in the wedding industry can easily charge between $8,000 - $15,000 for a wedding gig. There’s no shortage of content here on YouTube that teaches you everything you need to know not only about investing and personal finance, but video editing, and cameras as well.

#8 VFX Artist: This is a true story, my friend Jayce works on every Marvel Movie ever made and many other films where they have "HUDs", the heads up displays you see inside of Iron Man’s suit. They actually function with real physics and are practical. Even though, this particular job is known for not paying VFX artists very well, the reason he’s a huge success, is because he separated himself from the rest of his competition by being the best at a very specific niche aspect of an industry and he was able to build a business that makes him multiple six figures.

#7 Club Host / Cocktail Waitress - The people who can get this job can make between 200-400 thousand a year. I meet these people from time to time. They are paid by the clubs, the venues, and the highrollers / whales they host.

#6 Restaurant Waiters / Waitress - If you can get yourself a job at a high end steakhouse, the waiters and waitresses can easily make $100,00 - $120,000 in tips per year.

#5 Butler - For just 8 weeks of training, and only $15,000, you can potentially earn far above $100,000 a year being a butler. Believe it or not, the highest paid butler is in the USA earning 2.2 million dollars a year.

#4 Bartenders - New York City, Vegas, LA, D.C., San Francisco, basically any major US city, and you can easily earn six figures being a bartender with tips alone.

#3 Artist - This can be anything from selling your digital prints, paintings, music or even tutorials on how to do card tricks. The sky is the limit with being an artist and receiving royalties through digital assets and downloads.

#2 Entertainers. This one is similar to artist but an artist can be a digital business, but an entertainer is more of a physical requirement to actually perform for people. Pros: you make a lot of money. Cons: you have to be entertaining.

#1 Social Media / Personal Brand - The single best way of making six figures a year is building a personal brand online through social media. There's no limit to how much money you can make and it doesn't cost much to get started.
