This is an open source Filament Runout Encoder which detects filament jams in addition to filament runout similar (and I think better) than the BigTreeTech one. This will run you about $5 to make. You only need a few parts for this project most of which can be found in your shop already. The project will work with Ender 3, CR-10, LayerFused X301, Anet and many more 3D Printer bands. You simply need to be able to compile your firmware and have a free pin for the encoder. This project covers setup of the runout encoder in Marlin but can be used with other firmware that detect filament runout by encoder pulses. Upgrade your filament detection to a smart filament sensor today!
