The future of the human race is rapidly moving towards the creation of a smart world with smart technology taking over many functions in order to make the lives of people all around the world easy. The basis of this smart technology is the sensors.

The sensors or the sensing technology acquires information by detecting the physical, chemical, and biological properties and quantities and converting them into readable signals. There are a wide variety of sensors in various devices we use. Such as a sensor in your smartphone, your vehicle, or your TV that enables you to operate it remotely.

To put it simply, even our body is a mix of various sensors. The sense organs gather information and tell us about our surroundings after which we adapt or react to something. Pretty cool right?

But sensor technology and its uses are expanding rapidly. Sensor technology plays an important role in creating solutions using IoT i.e. internet of things. Internet of things is the network of things that have sensors embedded in them and they collect data from the surroundings and exchange it over the devices and systems over the internet. So sensor technology is pretty much the basis of the age of information and smart living.

With that being said, it is no doubt that sensor technology has a very bright future and more and more investment and research will take place in this field. But all this development took place more or less in the last two to three decades. This has increased the capability of the human race manifolds and we can share information or know about inhabitable environments too with just a click.
