North American Aviation successfully produced the Navion, and its military counterpart the 'L-17', beginning in 1946 before shortly selling rights to Ryan who continued to improve upon the design until the 50's. Today, many of these vintage aircraft can still be found flying as they've proved their versatility and value to pilots over the decades. With a useful load around 900 pounds and a cruise speed of 150 mph, it can easily accommodate cross country trips. It's notable stability in flight also makes the Navion a joy to take out flying for maneuver practice.
