The MrCool Universal A-Coil is a versatile and adaptable option for your home comfort. It comes with quick connect fittings so you can hook it up to the the MrCool Universal Line Sets, and can be paired with other Universal units, or as a replacement for an outdated, ineffective A-coil in your current system.

For this video, we replaced an old split system furnace with a MrCool Universal and a Universal A-coil, along with a MrCool 80 percent AFUE gas furnace. This was an attic installation, which required a horizontal install.

With a three-and-a-half-inch hole saw, we cut out two spots in the house’s soffit. We used a thirty-five-foot line set with a fifteen-foot line set to reach from the condenser to the A-coil. Inside the line set box you will find the 3/8’s line and the 3/4 line along with the quick connect fittings.

We unrolled the line sets then started feeding them through the holes we created into the attic.

We set the A-coil into the attic on its side and connected it to the existing ductwork. Then we took the MrCool gas furnace and connected it to the A-coil. Once everything was in place, we connected the gas line to the furnace and wired the system.

At the condenser we connected the quick connect fittings, the screwed on the no-vac quick connect line sets. At the A-coil in the attic, we added the quick connect fittings. Then, we connected the 15-foot line set and the 35-foot line set together using the MrCool Coupler Kit. The couplers fit together just like the quick connect fittings.

After insulating the connections, we screwed the line set to the A-coil.

Then it was time to open the valves using an Allen wrench. Then we reconnected the vent pipe to the furnace and hooked up the drain line.

Outside, we opened the valves at the condenser, then started connecting the thermostat wire. Then we wired the system and it was ready to go.
