I got curious about why so many brands of strike anywhere matches had been discontinued after looking for -- and having trouble finding -- some brands for an article I was writing for the site.

I did some research and ended up on forum threads where people were making unsubstantiated claims...such as saying the Patriot Act had made them illegal.

Unsatisfied with these theories, I decided to email a couple manufacturers myself.

The emails I got back were illuminating, and I share them with you in this video because I believe they answer the question of why so many brands of strike anywhere matches (Ohio Blue Tips, Penley, UCO) have been discontinued.
