This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Genesis GV80 mid-size luxury SUV. The GV80 is certainly is a standout on the road with its unique and modern exterior style. The bold G-Matrix Crest grille, signature Quad LED headlamps, dual exhaust outlets and available 22” Matrix design wheels create a sporty and athletic design. There are two engines to choose from with the Genesis GV80, the base engine is a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 311 lb=ft of torque. The more powerful engine is the 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. The GV80 2.5T comes standard with LED headlights and LED taillights, a smart power lift-gate, a panoramic sunroof, 19” wheels, blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert and 5-passenger seating. 7-passenger seating is available on the 3.5T models along with 22” wheels. Our GV80 test model is the top trim with the 3.5T engine in Cardiff Green. It is the only trim that comes with electronic limited slip differential and road active noise cancellation. There is no doubt Genesis offers a lot of value in this GV80, it comes with so many standard features, let’s check out the interior. The base GV80 model has a large14.5-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch LCD instrument display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, heated leatherette front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, smart power tailgate and 5-passenger seating. All this for $64,500 CAD/$54,650 USD. One up for the base model for an extra $5500 CAD is where you’ll find leather seats, a head-up display, ventilated front seats and a surround view monitor. Moving up to the more powerful GV80 engine, the 3.5T base model for an extra $10,000 CAD compared to the top 2.5T trim gets you the 7-passenger seating, genuine wood interior trim, leather seating with quilting, a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system and electronic control suspension.
For an extra $5,000 CAD the top trim adds electronic limited slip differential, road active noise cancellation, a 12.3” LCD digital instrument cluster, 16-way power driver’s seat, remote smart parking assist, Nappa leather seats with quilting, ventilated front and second row seats, power folding 3rd row seats and soft close doors.
