The Skandia cinema theatre on Drottninggatan in central Stockholm just turned 100 years old, but is soon without a tenant and risks closing for good. Stockholm International Film Festival, which has shown films in this beautiful 1920s salon for over 30 years, won't let this happen. We want to keep Skandia open as an important meeting place for the Stockholm's film lovers and prevent the cinema from closing at the end of 2023. All the proceeds will go towards running Skandia through a subsidiary of Stockholm International Film Festival, so that Skandia can once again be opened to the public. With the help of this fundraising, we will be able to secure Skandia's future. It would mean that Stockholm International Film Festival can continue to show films to its audience, as well as create a hub for Stockholm Film Festival Junior and other cultural events.
