Battery technology has come a long way in the last decade, with more and more exotic battery chemistries promising longer life, better power and energy densities, and the ability to charge in a fraction of the time their predecessors did.
Mostly though, battery advancements have revolved around lithium-ion chemistries - but earlier this week, startup QuantumScape showcased the latest developments it has made as it races to commercialize affordable, long-lasting solid state batteries for electric cars.
And given Quantumscape is backed by Volkswagen and Bill Gates -- not to mention some other very important companies - we think it's time to pay attention.
