Early Career Researchers (ECR) Network jointly with Women in OR & Analytics Network talking about career breaks and breaking careers.

Hear the perspectives and experiences of speakers from academia and industry on their career breaks, including maternity/paternity leave. The speakers covered topics including (i) how they decided to take a career break, (ii) the short- and long-term impact and what might be done to mitigate it, and (iii) what mechanisms were available to support them during this time and on return to work. Followed by a panel discussion, exploring issues and shared experiences.

Not everybody's career break is planned, or goes to plan, and this event will be followed by another in early 2024 exploring the experience of an extended, unplanned break.
