Perhaps the most memorable is when he is forced to leave Cora to her fate after they escape the Huron ambush of Colonel Munro's forces. Nathaniel tells her that if he, his father and brother leave, there won't be a fight with the Huron who have a rivalry with the Mohicans. In that scene, Nathaniel tells Cora to stay alive and that he will find her no matter what, no matter how long it takes. He says it so emphatically that it is hard not to believe him.
