The Montreal Botanical Garden (Jardin botanique de Montréal), one of the city's jewels, is recognized as one of the world's greatest botanical gardens. It offers a colourful program of events, exhibitions and activities in all season. With its collection of 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, and more than 20 thematic gardens spread out over 75 hectares, it's also a perfect place to enjoy fresh air and natural beauty.
Located just minutes from downtown Montreal, right near the Biodome and Olympic Park, the Montreal Botanical Garden is a living museum of plants from all over the world.
Among its 10 greenhouses and some thirty thematic gardens are Alpine Garden, The Aquatic Garden, Arboretum, Arid Regions Greenhouse, Chinese Garden, Food Garden, Japanese Garden, etc.
The indoor greenhouses which lead one to another, contain a huge variety of Canadian and exotic plants. Each one has a different theme--cacti, bromeliads, orchids, ferns, begonias, spices, plants that provide food and more. The greenhouses are not simply displays of pretty plants and flowers - the plants/flowers are landscaped into pleasant settings/visual displays with excellent information panels describing the cultivated species and their significance.
This video is a complete tour, more than 30 minutes, of the indoor greenhouses in Jardin botanique de Montréal.
Here are two links for more information about tropical plants (such as Neoregelia from Bromeliaceae plant familly) grow on artificial trees and showing their hanging roots at the start of the video:
