All new 2022 Honda Civic sedan is the eleventh generation of the excellent compact car. It was first shown as a prototype back in 2020, followed by the production sedan in April 2021, and then the production hatchback in June 2021. Although this is technically a brand-new model, a lot of the underpinnings are shared with the previous generation Civic. That's not a bad thing, as it means a group of robust engines and excellent chassis engineering. Four trim levels are available: LX, Sport, EX and Touring. The hatchback also offers an additional one, Sport Touring. On the outside, you can definitely tell this is a new generation of Civic; the styling has been smoothed out and cleaned up significantly compared to the previous one. The front features a set of slimmer headlights and a smaller grille, the side has been cleaned up a fair bit, while the rear features a new set of rather controversial taillights. Comparisons have been drawn to the Kia Stinger's taillights, but that's not a bad thing. The new Civic will be offered as both a sedan and a hatchback, but the coupe has unfortunately been dropped. The new Civic will be available with two different engines. The base engine is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder with 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. The torque numbers may sound small, but that's just the way Honda rolls. The other option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are carried over from the previous generation Civic, and all models are FWD. A CVT automatic transmission is standard but fortunately, a 6-speed manual is an option on the hatchback models. There's also no word on the Type R version just yet, but we all know that it'll happen eventually.
