Gigafactory Texas on 16 June 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Busy day and hot & humid too! A lot of activity across the growing site (we see three new areas of excavation and/or foundation preparation) and inside the main facility as well. A source working on the site has told me there is a big push to try and catch-up form some of the lost time caused by all of the heavy rains in May and early June, and from the pace of activities, it definitely looks like that is the case! Because of the amount of new activity, I have a more in-depth introduction, highlighting several key points and images you will see in the video.

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- On the far west side, more work on hill and pond removal, but the priority seems to be the new, possibly 4-lane road that will connect to highway 973 on the west all the way under the south bridge and to the main site.
- On the south side near the water detention ponds, more work under the bridge to allow for the road and preparation work to extend the fusion welded water pipe under the river. Also, more fill dirt is being brought in to further fill in the large pond area and we can see a widening of the perimeter roadway just to the south of the perimeter grade beam.
- The west steel structure (General Assembly) continues to grow to the south, with preparations to continue growing by moving another crane out of the area and repositioning some of the stored steel to allow room to work. The second row of windows on the west side now extend almost the length of the first row, and the “missing” first row window has been installed.
- The battery cell structure is having a lot of ground-level work this morning, including pouring concrete for a reinforced slab on the west side and excavating equipment digging trenches and pits in other areas. Another thing I noticed was some paintwork on the steel structural beams on the west side … possibly rust treatment?
- In the central area, we see the water vault installation appears completed, yet there are no apparent outlet pipes, suggesting this may be some kind of industrial fluid storage instead of for storm water. The “missing” column has now been constructed, although another row of column footings appears to be needed on the south edge of the big pit.
- The casting machine area shows 11 cross beams installed on the columns along the paint shop structure and the first roof beam being installed as well. Also, across the highway, we see prefabricated “double-T” roofing panels, indicating we should see very quick progress on the casting area structure. Finally, more castings have been made and some are being moved into large bins for transportation off site.
- On the south side of the big parking lot, we see a large excavation underway, generally in a large rectangular shape. Purpose is unknown, at this time.
- The battery cathode foundation work has accelerated and appears to be widening on both the east and west sides of the initial “strip” foundation. The entire area is nearly level now, with earthwork concentrating on the northwest side now near the newly paved road.
- Further on the east, near the contracting trailers, we see a new temporary foundation area and what appears to be sidewalks to it ... this may be where the communications station and tower next to the old housing area may be moved.
- Another new foundation area has been covered with aggregate and levelled just north of the battery cathode area … this is generally in a square shape with what appears to be driveways to it on the west and south.
- Finally, the far northeast clearing area and dirt roadway have seen little progress in the past 48 hours, but we fly over for a quick visit before heading back to the main factory site.
