Tony James currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, a premier global investment and advisory firm. After consecutively earning a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Harvard University, Tony began his prominent career as an Investment Banking associate at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). He went on to lead DLJ's global M&A group, found DLJ Merchant Banking, and head up the Banking Group, respectively. When DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000, Tony became Chairman of Global Investment Banking and Private Equity at Credit Suisse. Tony is involved in a number of charities, particularly those focused on the environment, education, and New York City community development. He is a Director of Costco Wholesale Corporation and Swift River Investments, and has served on a number of corporate boards.
