"When the line between fact and fiction is enshrouded in mist and shadow, beyond that threshold is a place that can change our perspective on everything we think we know. I call this place... THE SIDEWORLD" ~ George Popov.

So far, there are three films in the Sideworld franchise: Haunted Forests of England, Terrors of the Sea, and Damnation Village. All of which are available on Amazon in both the UK and the US. They're all also available on Tubi.

I watched Damnation Village ahead of my talk with George Popov, who narrates the Sideworld documentaries. He discussed how making horror movies like Hex and The Droving under the Rubicon umbrella ended up sparking the Sideworld projects.

Basically, they blend history, folklore, the paranormal, and horror with atmospheric visuals and haunting music to share the stories of some of England's most haunted places. In Damnation Village that included Pluckley, Prestbury, which vie for the title of England's most haunted village, and the plague village of Eyam and its tragic, and yet also timely, history.

And of course I had to ask whether or not he had any paranormal experiences while filming in any of the haunted places for any of the films. He said he really didn't because he's so focused on work while they're shooting that it would take something really big to distract his attention from that.

HOWEVER, he did experience something unusual while trying to find the Suicide Pond in Epping Forest while shooting Haunted Forests of England. No one is sure which of the many lakes or ponds in the forest is THE Suicide Pond, but there was one that "felt" noticeably different than the others to both him and his cameraman. And we all know that sometimes just feeling something is the most powerful experience of all, paranormal or otherwise.

It's really interesting to see what they're doing with their films. George wasn't at liberty to say what's coming next for Sideworld, but they are working on growing their community and adding some multimedia experiences to enhance the experience even more. The best way to keep abreast of what's happening is to follow them on socials. I've included all their links below.

Enjoy!
