Every day, tons of plastic flows through Denpasar's rivers into the mangrove forests of South Bali. This plastic gets trapped in between the roots and suffocates the mangrove trees. At Sungai Watch, we are on a mission to clean up these mangroves and prevent more plastic from getting there in the first place. For 2+ years, we have been cleaning this mangrove forrest every day and installing our trash barriers upstream in Denpasar. After almost 400,000 kg of plastic collected, new mangroves are growing back and we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel 🌱
