It's not too odd to have a compact or mid-size crossover on the market with over 280 horsepower, but the Kona is a subcompact with 286 peak ponies in overboost, an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, torque vectoring differential, adaptive sports suspension, standard summer tires and big brakes. All that adds up to the Kona N being the ultimate hot... something. Since AWD isn't on offer if you select the N engine, I'm tempted to call it the only subcompact hot hatch in America, but I'm not sure if that's right either. Whatever you want to call it, this N is a blast.
