The best way for us to tackle what went on at Spa this weekend is to discuss it in the level of detail we were able to on The Race F1 Podcast. Mark Hughes and Scott Mitchell join Edd Straw to run through the decisions made by F1 race director Michael Masi and ask whether the handling of Sunday afternoon was right – and if the Belgian Grand Prix was worthy of the name, and points awarded.

There’s also the question of whether F1’s sporting regulations need to change, as well as how powerful commercial considerations really were in the way the race was finally ‘completed’.

But there was some on-track action to talk about, with George Russell’s qualifying heroics, Lando Norris’s possible missed ‘win’ and Sergio Perez’s nightmare after being confirmed by Red Bull for 2022 also on the agenda.

And with Russell once again thriving at Spa, we ask what Mercedes is waiting for in terms of its 2022 driver confirmation.
