As you know, Burrtec has been phasing out its remaining diesel fleet, which has been concentrated in the desert yards. Victorville has been no exception, with 2184 (The Diesel Durapack 5000) and a handful of Front Loaders being the only examples in service now. Or at least that's what I thought...

Last year, this truck showed up. As indicated by the tailgate, this truck once worked for the City of San Diego until it was sold off upon its seventh birthday in 2022. That in itself made quite the pleasant surprise, but...yeah, I can't keep this charade up.

So yeah, despite the lettering on the body, this is, in fact, a Diesel, evident from the tank on the left, and a blue cap indicating the Diesel Exhaust Fluid tank on the right. This was the surprise, as I (among others) never thought Burrtec would buy diesels ever again (aside from parts units or, of course, as part of company buyouts).

Overall, I like this truck. This is an HX450, which is nice to have in a sea of Otcos. I know this truck would have worked faster when worked down South, But I don't mind that. (and if you do, *shut up*.) Although I got a lot of footage owing to this taking place after Memorial Day, I won't mind having another go with this machine, especially with a faster driver.

Truck featured:
Burrtec Waste Industries 1349
Chassis: 2015 Autocar Xpeditor ACX (Diesel)
Body: Amrep HX450ASL
Ex-City of San Diego ESD unit

Thanks to the Driver for letting me film!
