José Alberto and Luz Mery Gutierrez have promoted literacy in their home country of Colombia, book by book. José was a Bogotá garbage collector with limited formal education, but created the La Fuerza de las Palabras (The Power of Words) Foundation, which has distributed more than 50,000 books to community libraries.
