The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that on average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. Given how widespread intimate partner violence (IPV) is, even therapists, first responders, and other healthcare professionals have their own biases that could impact how effective their patients' treatment is. Dr. Taslim Alani-Verjee discusses three of the most common things a therapist might do wrong when treating domestic violence survivors with MedCircle host Kyle Kittleson, and what they can do instead to make sure clients feel safe and informed.
