The most extreme rally in the world was born in 1979 and named Paris-Dakar, making the crossing of Sahara Desert “a dream for those at home a hell for those in the race”.

In 2009 organizers moved it to South America (and now in Arabia) and changed the name in #DAKARRALLY, while a bunch of top competitors (Auriol, Metge and Schlesser) remained sticky to its roots and traditional African tracks, but where forced to rename the rally as #AFRICARACE.

They both are the ultimate challenge in motorsport, but just one faces the most terrific desert in the world, the Sahara. And only one gives to finishers the glory of arriving on the Lac Rose in the legendary Dakar city. No asphalt, no campers, no roaring fans, no hotels nor Spas on its way: just 6.500 km offroad in 2 continents, crossing 5 countries from -10 to +57 degrees for the braves who have the courage to start in Monaco and the force to arrive in Dakar.
