This video presents a clip from my archive. I am fascinated by the post-World War II era, by the early 1950s, the change in the economies not only in the USA where I was growing up but of the nations of Europe, the EU, and of the Axis enemies during the war. This clip presents portions of a a documentary made during postwar about the European economic boom. World War II devastated Europe and I have met people who were children during the war and immediately after when Europeans, especially children, had a hard time of it with some coming close to starvation. And then came the boom. In America in the 1950s, from an economic point of view it was a fine time to be a middle-class teenager as we had so many ways to make money and that relatively small amount of money we were paid could buy us real things. Apparently something similar was happening in Europe based on this documentary. I don't know how long World War II will be popular in every medium, films, television, the web, YouTube. For me, it remains a subject of intense fascination and my two sons also find it fascinating.

Some of the viewers of this video clip either lived in Europe or had relatives who did back at that time or who visited Europe on vacation. If you were really lucky, you got an assignment in Europe for work. I didn't get the chance to visit a European nation until the late 1960s when a documentary feature film of mine was accepted into the Cannes Film Festival. Since that time, whenever possible, I have returned.
