Tamika Catchings is a retired American professional basketball athlete known for her 15-year tenure with the Indiana Fever in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Throughout her career, Catchings achieved numerous accolades, including a WNBA championship in 2012, the WNBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2011, and the WNBA Finals MVP Award in 2012. She also earned five WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards, four Olympic gold medals, and the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2002. Catchings' achievements extend to her collegiate career, where she won an NCAA championship with the University of Tennessee Lady Vols in 1998. Remarkably, she is one of just 11 women to have secured an Olympic gold medal, an NCAA Championship, a FIBA World Cup gold, and a WNBA Championship. Additionally, Catchings boasts a stellar record in All-Star appearances, All-WNBA teams, All-Defensive teams, and league steals. Recognized for her contributions, Catchings was named among the WNBA's Top 15 Players of All Time by fans in 2011, and subsequently featured on the WNBA Top 20@20 in 2016 and The W25 in 2021. Beyond her athletic feats, Catchings served as President of the WNBA Players Association from 2012 to 2016 and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
