I have been using the Mavic Air 2 for about a year now. It is a great drone. The quality of pictures and video from it are amazing. It is compact, reliable, and fairly inexpensive. I use it for a lot of my videos, from hiking to biking.
The newest iteration of this drone is the Mavic Air 2 S. DJI have added two more collision sensors to the top of the drone. They have also upgraded the camera to a full one inch sensor. The new sensor is capable of shooting 5.4k video. They are a couple of other minor upgrades such as Active Track 4.0, Spotlight 2.0, POI 3.0, and Master Shots.
I am not going to buy this drone. I have not flown one personally. I have watched several videos on this drone from reliable sources. I was hoping that the tracking features would be updated, and make it more reliable and enjoyable. After watching DC Rainmaker's video, I decided against this purchase. Most of updates feel minor and not worth the extra money.
I need a much more reliable drone for tracking. The MA2 does an average job. Most of the trails I ride have too many twists and turns for the MA2 to stay locked on. That is why I am selling my MA2, and purchasing the Skydio 2.
The Skydio 2 looks to be much better at tracking, and should be able to keep up with me. I should be getting it within the next couple of weeks. I cannot wait to test it out, and share my results with you. I will be doing all of the same tests I did with the MA2. I will be testing the Skydio app, the Beacon, and the remote.
