The Debate on whether the Muhammad of the 9th and 10th century Traditions Existed was carried out in California, on November 14th, 2020, between Dr David Wood and Dr Jay Smith.

David supported the notion that he did exist, and that the later Traditions can be trusted concerning what they say about Muhammad, because with all the myriad of embarrassing stories about him, how could or would the later Traditional writers create them, unless of course these stories were true (the Principle of Embarrassment).

Jay took the opposing position that the Muhammad of the later Traditions did not exist because there is simply is no historical evidence for him, nor his city Mecca, nor his book the Qur'an, nor his religion Islam, or its people the Muslims at all at least before 690 AD, a full 60 years when he supposedly would have died.

Watch the debate, and decide who convinced you the most, David or Jay.
