After being rained out on our planned Tuesday ride, we were able to reschedule our shuttle reservation for Wednesday. It was still soaked, and this provided a unique challenge that we do not often get at home, since we do not ride wet trails in Central Texas due to the nature of our topsoil. Leatherwood handles water a little better. They still don't want you riding wet trails there, but it was drained up top enough to allow it. At the bottom of the mountain however it gets rocky, and this is where all the water was. The rocks were so slick, and that gave us an opportunity to learn how to deal with a total loss of traction.

It was hot and humid, and we were all truly beat by the end of the day. Some of us did fewer runs than others, and some folks were clearly on a mission to just survive the day. Thankfully, we all did. Personally, I loved the white-knuckle riding.

I also rode DH 4 and DH 6, but DH 6 is a bit -um - boring, and DH 4 was a total adventure with lots of stopping, so I included those in a separate video in case you wanted to watch.
