Daemon by Daniel Suarez is my favorite hacker fiction. I read it every year, and each time I come away inspired to create something new. Daniel Suarez spends an extreme amount of time researching and avoids my BIGGEST dislikes with any SCI-FI; made up technical gobbledegook.
Daemon impacted my life in many indirect ways; including, winning a DEF CON black badge, joining the DarkNet team that runs the largest hacker contest in the world, and meeting incredible people.
