August 21, 2023...According to original member and the current bandleader of "WAR," Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan, the group, which has been around since the 1960s and has produced numerous Billboard charting hits, was formed to spread a message of brotherhood and harmony, using instruments and voices to speak out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, and to promote hope and the spirit of brotherhood. That's a tall order to fill for a small group of musicians. Nonetheless, the band is still on that mission today performing in venues such as The Birchmere showplace and dinner club in Alexandria, Virginia where this excerpt of their show proves they can still please an audience of music lovers.
