Andrew Rosindell states that socialism is an ideology that results in the opposite of what it sets out to achieve. Socialism creates poverty and hands power from the people to the state. It creates a society of dependency rather than self-reliance. He quotes Abraham Lincoln sayins "You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot ferthur the brotherhood of man by insighting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by destroying mens initiative and independence and you cannot help men perminantly by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." He uses examples of prosperous countries like Jamaica who dabbled in socialism which resulted in the country becoming an economic mess.
