President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graces the inauguration of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) 2022-2025 in a ceremony at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex located within the Bangsamoro Government Center in Cotabato City on September 15, 2022.
Following the Republic Act No. 11593, which extends the transition period in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) until 2025, the Chief Executive had earlier appointed 80 new members of the BTA Parliament in an oath-taking ceremony held in Malacañan Palace on August 12, 2022.
The reconstituted BTA is composed of 41 duly appointed and elected officers from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and 39 from the Government of the Philippines (GPH), consisting of representatives from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), incumbent GPH members, recommendations from local government units (LGUs) and various sectors.
This is the first visit of President Marcos Jr. to BARMM since assuming office, underscoring the President’s firm commitment to fulfill the completion of the peace agreement and implement the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) until the first Bangsamoro Government has been qualified to office.
