The Blue Ridge Fire broke on October 26, 2020 and Burned 13,694 Acres, pretty much burning all of the Chino Hills State Park. A fire event in November of 2008 burnt most of the park as well. Full disclosure: The fire clips in this video were from the 2008 fire. All the other clips, including the air-drop aircraft are from the Blue Ridge fire. We stayed around in 2008, but evacuated this year.

The TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) were lifted 2 days ago, allowing me to use my DJI Mavic Air 2 Drone to take the footage in the video. Kudos to DJI for developing software that works with the FAA to restrict the flight of drones in areas where our operations could hinder/interfere or endanger the operations of firefighters and there equipment. I know DJI takes some heat for some of their geo-fencing policies, however, In the long run it's best for drone flying and the safety of the public.

If you are a resident of this area (or any area that's been threatened with a wildfire) then you know what it's like to have your home in danger like this. And, if your lucky enough to have your home spared, how grateful you are for the firefighters working so hard to protect what you hold so dear. When they are unable to safe a home I'm sure the anguish, pain and despair on there part is severe. Thank you so much to all the firefighters for all your valiant efforts.

For those of you not "in the know" about such things, the Pink blotches on the ground are the remnants of fire-retardant dropped from firefighting aircraft, in this case the planes you saw in the short clips. The one large circular structure towards the back end of the clip is a water tank used for supplying water to local residents. Also, with some gentle rain and a reasonable winter season, the Chino Hills State Park will come back to life and be as beautiful as ever, and the cycle will continue. Such is life "in the hills".
