While this fan-made trailer poses an interesting possibility, there is still controversy surrounding whether Tony Stark should return to the MCU. It is no secret that the MCU has struggled with its most recent installments, with The Marvels recently breaking the record for the lowest box office taking for the MCU, a record previously held by The Incredible Hulk. There are many theories about why this happened, with one of them being that audiences aren't as invested in the newer characters as they are in older characters. The MCU's highest-grossing movies of the last few years lend credence to this idea.

Of all the MCU movies that were released in MCU Phases 4 and 5, the ones that feature established characters have grossed the most. Spider-Man: No Way Home, in particular, grossed the third-highest of any MCU movie. Now that Marvel is struggling to maintain its audience's interest, it is likely eyeing the possibility of Stark's return if only to reinvigorate the current box office slump. Given that MCU Phase 6 will culminate with the overarching effects of the Multiverse, a Tony Stark - even in a cameo role - from another universe could be all it takes to reinvigorate interest in the franchise, though Iron Man 4 is unlikely.
