How to address gender stereotypes and inequality through ELT? Can teachers make a difference and have a positive impact on students' perspectives regarding this subject? In this talk, Ana Fabiola Velasco Argente, from Mexico, shows us how she modified the learning materials provided for her students to empower them.
During her presentation, she provides examples to explain how to integrate English teaching topics (past perfect, conditionals, modal verbs, etc.) with women's representation in history, sports, culture, and entertainment industries, among others.
Finally, she states the effect of adapting learning materials to target gender issues by sharing her students' final impressions.
