Shower installation general guidelines. This is how. In this video I go through and explain all the steps needed to prep and waterproof a shower stall. I talk about what is needed to be done to prepare the wall studs for tile backer board and the steps that should be taken to waterproof the entire shower giving some insight into the to major types of shower systems. Laticrete Hydro Ban Board is made of a lightweight waterproof high-density extruded polystyrene core , and has a reinforced, waterproof membrane on both sides. In This video I use the 1/2" version but is also available in 1/4” , 3/8” , 1/2”, 5/8”, 1", 1 ½” and 2" The Seams and corners and shower floor can be treated with either a liquid applied waterproofing membrane for a regular shower, or an optional sheet membrane and band should be used for steam showers. In this Video I demonstrate both methods. This is what I refer to as a time lapse, however at a later date there will be a How to video going into great detail and explanation of the whole system. This is what is referred to a a sealed system, and is in my opinion far superior to a traditional "water in water out" system with a vinyl liner.
