The Mysterious Cave of Carvings is one of the Isle of Wight’s true hidden gems that not many locals know about.

Nobody knows who carved the carvings into the cave, but they were very skilled and carved many mysterious faces and some that can only be seen from certain angles.

They were a true artist, but I wonder if they ever got to see what ageing has done to bring out the detail on the animals and other mysterious carvings.

As kids we always called these the smugglers caves, were they carved by smugglers or were they carved by the old time fishermen trying to seek shelter from the winter storms that eroded and destroyed the ancient lost fishing village of Luccombe

This video was intended to be a fossil hunting adventure but the carvings I have always found amazing and I hope you like the mysterious carvings too 😉

Apologies that it is only a quick fossil hunt at the end of the video, but I got annoyed and deleted most of the footage because I got frustrated after buying a brand new microphone and it made the sound quality was even worse than usual 🙄 thankfully I only used it on the beach.
