"As you make towards the base of the mountain, you can see just over the edge a couple of castle towers and what looks to be a single central spire of the castle of Whitestone. As you get closer, you can see that a lot of the buildings appear to be closed or empty. There are people working in the fields. As you make your way to the center of the town, there is a town square. There is a tree there, a very large, old tree that is twisted with various gnarled branches that reach out. Eight humanoid bodies of varying ages swing from it." - Critical Role Episode 28 - Matt Mercer

An atmospheric musical journey into the northern town of Whitestone, the ancestral home of Percy and the de Rolo family itself. This track uses rustic string instruments to create a sombre and tense atmosphere as Vox Machina make their way through the empty city streets towards the terrible sight that awaits them at the Sun Tree. Between these dark moments, the track also hints at what Whitestone once was, and what it could be again, something more hopeful.

Whilst this track was written with Whitestone and Critical Role in mind, it could work well during any sombre or tense moment, adding to the drama and suspense of a scene. The medieval and rustic sound make it perfect for a run down town, a journey through snowy mountains, or any slightly sinister moment of exploration in your campaign.

This composition, alongside all other tracks in my Tabletop RPG Music series and my Critical Role Unofficial Soundtrack series, is designed for use in Dungeons and Dragons or other tabletop role-playing games. Game Masters are welcome to use any of these tracks to form the background soundtrack to their games. Patreon supporters can get downloadable copies of each track, including 1 hour versions, future track suggestions, behind the scene VODs, bonus tracks, and more!
