Mind-blowing flavors in the jungle of Sumatra, what could ever be better? Lakeside views, fresh air, clean living, I am already going to miss this place...

Ok so, the menu first, and trust me when I say that this stuff is truly mind-blowing.

-Andaliman Pepper (which are actually berries), included in the sambal, in the curry, in a lot of stuff.
-Dali ni Horbo (the Buffalo cheese, which she cures with Pineapple and Papaya leaves).
-Grilled fish, with Sambal (more amazing-ness).
-Ikan Mas Arsik (if you haven't realized by now, I'm eating this about once per day!).
-Saksang (Buffalo meat, with skin, and the occasional organ cut - wonderful).
and
-Cassava Leaf Stew.

What a family, what a place, what a MEAL. 10 stars out of 10.

The time spent on Sumatra has really been fun, but its this Lake Toba that is truly unforgettable. My entire family and I could just give the biggest "Thank You" to the entire area of Samosir. The people receiving us so warmly, sharing so many beautiful experiences and lessons, its incredible to think that our visit was only less than one week.

I am already planning the next visit to Indonesia, and this meal alone should easily explain why. Finding such INCREDIBLE dishes on the menu of this small, unpretentious restaurant, its the type of thing a food-loving traveler just dreams about.

I hope you love the meal, I hope you learn a lot of new stuff right alone with me, and lets also not forget one more big shout-out to Douglas at GUBUK Coffee (his little shop is about 300m down the road from this restaurant), he is the one who made the connection with his home-cooking friend and led the way for us to enjoy this incredible meal - truly the best meal we had in Indonesia for this trip.
