On the eve of Dungeness Crab season I made the run to the Farallon Islands for my first time. I had been there once before but on a party boat. A little different driving your personal 20' North River boat 30 miles out in the Pacific Ocean. Something I always wanted to do, and I was waiting for the right opportunity when I had some friends I could follow out. Always safer having a boat buddy with you. We met under the Golden Gate Bridge at 6am in the pitch black. Sunrise wasn't until 730am. That was an experience driving in the open ocean with no light. Once we got the Farallon Islands we were fishing for rockfish and lingcod. We caught some beautiful red rockfish. We had a couple lingcod chances but at 250' I think most lingcod have moved in closer to spawn.
To catch the rockfish and lingcod we were using lures from Pitbull tackle. If you are interested in getting some of there gear visit pitbulltackle.com and use code ChrisP10 to get 10% off.
