I unintentionally test the limits of the Kia EV6's below 0% battery buffer by running the car below zero while I attempt to do a range test video. Watch the video to see what happens to the car once you hit zero and how far you can drive after reaching 0%.

Keep in the mind the EV6 will give you warnings at 10% and 5% and the range estimator is fairly accurate. At 10% it predicted I would not have enough range to make it to the charger. Had I slowed down and ended the range test then, I wouldn't have dipped as much (or at all) into the below 0% buffer.

Since this video was filmed, I've driven an additional 12,500 miles (20,100 km) for a total of around 30,000 miles (48,000 km) in one year of ownership. I have only experienced a calculated 1% battery degradation via data from the CarScanner OBD2 app. That calculated 1% degradation isn't even noticeable in everyday driving when you account for changing weather, traffic, and road conditions.

I'm sure that my battery did not suffer any long term damage from discharging it so low in the video. Of course it helped that I immediately charged it back up to full so that the BMS (battery management system) did not get out of calibration.
