黃霑、倪匡及蔡瀾經常到夜總會玩樂，卻不滿意服務質素，便與亞視商議製作一個清談節目，能邊跟美女嘉賓談話，邊品嚐美酒，結果獲拍板《今夜不設防》談話內容廣泛，以風花雪月、人生經歷為主，間中論及時事；並獲形容為“花花公子式的三級電視節目”
James Wong, Ni Kuang and Chua Lam often go to nightclubs to have fun, but find they are not satisfied with the quality of the service - so they negotiated with ATV to produce a talk show. The result is “Celebrity Talk Show”, where they can talk to beautiful ladies while sipping on alcohol. Mainly focusing on life experience, and occasionally discussing current affairs, this program is sometimes described as a playboy’s fantasy on TV!
