The Metropolitan Police hold a press conference at midday to provide an update on the critical incident near a Tube station in northeast London after reports of a man wielding a sword attacked members of the public and police officers.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell says a 13-year-old boy has died in the morning's attack and describes the incident as "truly horrific".

Chief superintendent Bell also said that the two Met Police officers who were hurt in the attack have "significant injuries" and are in hospital.

The incident is not believed to be a "targeted attack"
